Self-Care Month 2026: Taking Health into Our Own Hands

Theme: "Self-Care puts your health in your hands: Test. Track. Thrive."

Every year, Self-Care Month is observed from 24 June to 24 July, encouraging individuals to take an active role in managing their health and well-being. This year's theme, "Test. Track. Thrive.", highlights the importance of understanding our health status, monitoring our progress, and making informed decisions that lead to healthier lives.

At Amma Ji Health And Hope Foundation, we believe that prevention is better than cure. During Self-Care Month 2026, our volunteers and community outreach teams will connect directly with people in communities, residential areas, workplaces, and public spaces to spread awareness about self-care and preventive healthcare practices.

Why Self-Care Matters

Self-care is not just about treating illness; it is about maintaining physical, mental, and emotional well-being every day. Simple actions such as eating a balanced diet, exercising regularly, getting adequate sleep, managing stress, and attending routine health check-ups can significantly improve quality of life and prevent many health conditions.

By adopting healthy habits and staying informed about our health, we become empowered to make better decisions for ourselves and our families.

Encouraging the Use of Government Healthcare Services

India has a vast network of government healthcare facilities that provide essential medical services at little or no cost. These include Primary Health Centres (PHCs), Community Health Centres (CHCs), Ayushman Arogya Mandirs, district hospitals, and government medical colleges.

As part of our Self-Care Month campaign, Amma Ji Health And Hope Foundation will encourage citizens to utilize these government healthcare facilities for regular health screenings, preventive check-ups, vaccinations, maternal and child healthcare services, and consultations with qualified healthcare professionals.

Accessing healthcare early can help identify health risks before they become serious conditions.

Test. Track. Thrive.

Test

Know your baseline health status. Get your blood pressure, blood sugar, weight, BMI, and other recommended health parameters checked regularly. Early detection saves lives.

Track

Monitor your daily habits and health indicators. Track your sleep, physical activity, nutrition, hydration, and emotional well-being. Small improvements can create lasting positive outcomes.

Thrive

When you understand and actively manage your health, you can live with greater confidence, energy, and resilience. Thriving means enjoying a healthier and more productive life.

Self-Care Month 2026 Fact Sheet

Key Facts

  • Self-care is the ability of individuals, families, and communities to promote and maintain their own health, prevent disease, and cope with illness, with or without the support of a health or care worker.
  • Self-care actions include healthy lifestyle practices such as healthy eating, physical activity, avoiding tobacco and alcohol, getting enough sleep, and maintaining social connections.
  • Self-care interventions may include health screening tools, self-monitoring devices for conditions such as diabetes and hypertension, and selected over-the-counter medicines.

Scope of the Challenge

  • Approximately 4.6 billion people worldwide are not covered by essential health services.
  • Around 2.1 billion people face financial hardship due to healthcare expenses.
  • Underserved and marginalized populations often struggle to access reliable health information, services, and quality healthcare.

These challenges highlight the importance of empowering people with knowledge and tools to take greater control of their health while remaining connected to formal healthcare systems.

Self-Care Complements Healthcare Systems

Self-care does not replace doctors, nurses, hospitals, or health workers. Instead, it complements healthcare services by enabling people to make informed decisions, monitor their health, and seek professional care when needed.

Health literacy, digital health awareness, and access to reliable information play a critical role in helping individuals practice effective self-care.

Our Commitment

Through awareness drives, community interactions, health camps, and educational initiatives, Amma Ji Health And Hope Foundation is committed to empowering people to take charge of their health. We aim to bridge the gap between communities and accessible healthcare services while promoting a culture of preventive care.

This Self-Care Month, let us make a collective commitment to prioritize our health, encourage our loved ones to do the same, and make full use of the healthcare resources available to us.

Your health is your greatest asset.

Test. Track. Thrive.

Together, let us build healthier communities and a healthier India.
